At00Oh, My StarsBlock Description and theme: Choose your favorite or an admired star pattern in your favorite colors and place it on a dark background. The Universe explodes in color! Celebrate the range of amazing shapes and hues of stars and formations that make up our sky and beyond. Just look to the NASA Hubble photos or science books for color inspiration from the vibrant red-oranges to the palest of lavenders. Our SRQG library has many pattern and reference books for the over 800 named star blocks! Fabric: Please use 100% cotton; prewashing is optional. Use any star colors with any dark background color - the more colors, the more vibrancy! Size: The unfinished block size can range from 4-1/2" to 12"1/2, and be square or rectangular. Technique: Choose any pieced or paper-pieced star pattern and make with 1/4" seams. If you need help or want ideas, just call; Kathy can also provide a pattern. It's OK if you really want to applique a star, but please do not use fusibles as that will interfere with the quilting. Embellishments: If any, embellishments should be soft and washable. Pearl cotton or embroidery floss work well. Consider if it will interfere with quilting the piece. Due Date: Please return before the December meeting. Please write your name on the block. Thank you, Dear Friends, for sewing this block for me! |
