High Fiber Under Five – San Jose Museum of Quilts

July 11th, 2012

Their 5th Annual “High Fiber Under Five” benefit from Oct. 20-Nov. 4th, 2012.
High Fiber Under Five

An announcement of construction from San Jose Museum of Quilts:
Dear Friends,

1stACT Silicon Valley and the City of San Jose are partnering with the SoFA District to transform Parque De Los Pobladores (aka Gore Park), which is directly in front of the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. The park will be expanded to create an “outdoor living room” for the SoFA District. This project will not only enhance the park but provide our Museum with an outdoor space for future programming and events.

The project is scheduled to begin on July 11 and be completed by September 12. During the two month construction period, First Street will be closed between Reed and William Streets. The Museum will be open during this time and we apologize for any inconvenience this may incur.

Parking will continue to be available on Market (with 3 hour meters), William and Reed Streets, as well as in the parking lot under the 280 overpass between First and Second Streets. A fence will be constructed around the park. All businesses will remain open throughout construction and the sidewalk on the east side of First Street will remain open, safely fenced off from the construction.

When First Street reopens in September, it will include one lane of traffic, one lane of parallel parking, and enough space for emergency vehicles.

Best,
Christine Jeffers, CFRE
Executive Director

San Jose Quilt Museum

May 28th, 2012

“Dear Friends,

This week is our Anniversary: 35 years ago our Museum made its first steps into the world. In 1977, the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association first opened the doors as the American Museum of Quilts and Related Arts in a storefront in Los Altos. Click here for more on our legacy.

Share your memories of the museum with us on our Facebook page or come on down and tell us directly at one of our upcoming events: South First Fridays (June 1), Celebrating the Art of Quiltmaking (June 6), or Kids Create: Baskets (June 10)–details are below. And don’t forget about our new and ground-breaking exhibition of large scale pictorial tapestries by Mark Adams, a prolific Bay Area artist known for his role in the Bay Area fiber art renaissance of the 1960s-1980s (on view through July 29, 2012).

Finally, we’d like to invite you to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook for behind-the-scenes images, insights and up-to-the minute updates on our exhibits, collections and whats going on in the world of art quilts and textiles!
Yours,
Christine Jeffers

Thank You to Members

April 26th, 2012

Dear Members,
I found a wonderful surprise in the mail this week. A beautiful thank you note addressed to the Santa Rosa Quilt Guild. I have attached it because it must be shared with everyone.

To the thoughtful person who took the time to send this note — you just have no idea how touched we were when I read it aloud at our board meeting today.

You made our day very special. We all hope to continue to work on making our guild the very best that it can be.

Fondly,
Janice Juul
President SRQG
